This holiday season shone brighter for multiple families thanks to Springfield College football student-athlete and graduate student Patrick Tuohy, class of 2023, who donated stem cells earlier this year with the hopes of saving the life of a 60-year-old man with leukemia. Tuohy recently found out that he supplied enough stem cells to actually save multiple lives.

In recognition of his efforts, Tuohy was recently honored at a Boston Celtics game as part of their Heroes Among Us program.

In recognition, Tuohy was recently honored at a Boston Celtics game as part of their Heroes Among Us program. WesternMass News featured him to share his story to a national audience. Tuohy will complete his master’s in business administration during the spring semester, and will continue to live our Humanics philosophy.

“It’s been a mission statement we have stressed with the football program, and that’s not only to be a better player, but most importantly become a better person,” said Tuohy. “Giving back to others is what we do at Springfield College, and I am proud to be a student at Springfield.”

Tuohy also pays it forward as a Springfield College phonathon representative talking with alumni and donors in the Office of Institutional Advancement. He connects around supporting students and programs that encourage living a life in leadership in service to others.
