Grand Opening of “The Sporting Woman: Insight’s From Her Past” – The display was a gift to the College from the Women’s Sports Foundation and documents some of the various sports in which women have participated from antiquity to 1930.

Title IX Trail Blazers – As part of our yearlong Celebrating Opportunity at Springfield College: Title IX at 50Diane Potter ’57, G’63, EdDJone Bush, DPE’70Mimi Murray ’61, G’67, PhD; and Dottie Potter Zenaty ’65, moderated by Branwen Smith-King ”78, G’79, talked about the landmark legislation and the role of the Springfield College community in its passage.

112th Gymnastics Exhibition Home Show – Exciting performance highlighting more than a century of our gymnastics heritage at Springfield College.

Wellness Institute Session: A Discussion on Balanced Wellness Through Spirt, Mind, & BodyCharlie Redmond ’68, G’71, retired Dean of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation; and speaker Sue Guyer, DPE’03, Dean of the School of Physical Education, Performance, and Sport Leadership; led an interactive workshop incorporating movement, mindset, nutrition, and restoration. 

Annual Grad Only Champagne and Strawberries Breakfast – Chairperson Betty Mann, G’74, DPE’84, and the Grad Only Committee of the Alumni Council, led attendees through some fun stories and refreshments.

International Coffee Bar hosted by the Alumni Council Sub-committee on Alumni of Color – Student leader Paris Lizana, Class of 2023, led a group of her peers in discussion, including Hall of Alumni of Color Achievers Inductee: Linda Cruse Moffat ’73.

Donor Impact Brunch – This special event recognized members of the David Allen Reed Society, President’s Council, and The 1885 Society, celebrating their leadership in giving to support our students.

FREE Fabulous Food Truck Festival – Music provided by DJ Brian Nicks ’99. Food trucks included: The Kitchen (hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers) hosted by Bobby Barkett ’88; Giggles (cider donuts, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and kettle corn) hosted by Jamie Goldstein ’11; Harvest Table; Spuds Your Way; Blue Chip Creamery, and more. 

New Health Sciences Center Beam-signing Ceremony – Attendees were invited to be a part of history and encouraged to sign a beam that will be installed in the new Health Sciences Center, slated to open in the summer of 2023.

Title IX: The Power of 37 WordsDonna Lopiano, PhD, president of Sports Management Resources, former CEO of the Women’s Sports Foundation, talked with Shawn Ladda, G’85, EdD, chair of the Department of Kinesiology at Manhattan College, who, with her undergraduate Penn State soccer teammates, filed a Title IX complaint through the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission.
